Scene Study with Mike Dees

Mike Dees Develop techniques to bring a scene to life. Using a mix of modern classics and contemporary plays, this class will focus on making strong choices based on a script, taking risks, and living truthfully under imaginary circumstances. Perfect for students and performers looking to tackle more challenging material in a workshop environment.

Instructor Mike Dees is a Barrymore Award-winning actor and educator who has been teaching at the Lantern for over 10 years. His Lantern stage credits include Arcadia, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Romeo & Juliet.

Clowning for the Actor with Charlie DelMarcelle

Charlie DelMarcelle The heart of clowning celebrates our individual and very human imperfections. This introductory clowning class will prepare students to begin the joyful, profound, and transformative journey of discovering their unique clown personas. Students will develop greater physical vocabularies and strengthen their active listening skills. Great for students of all skill levels looking to expand their toolkit.

Movement and Voice with Bi Jean Ngo

Bi Jean Ngo Learn physical and vocal techniques to create characters with spontaneity and originality. This class will explore how to properly warm up the body and voice, use movement to support language, and craft a monologue using physical theater techniques. Great for students of all skill levels.

Instructor Bi Jean Ngo is an actor, director, educator, and 2016 recipient of the F. Otto Haas Award for an Emerging Philadelphia Theatre Artist. She recently completed a two-year Fox Foundation Resident Actor Fellowship with the Lantern, where her stage credits include 36 Views and this season's production of The Tempest in which she will star as Ariel.
