Lantern Theater Company Extends Hilarious Holiday Production Of Scapin Through January 10, 2010

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
December 29, 2009

Unanimously glowing reviews and strong word of mouth are driving audiences to the Lantern's seriously silly holiday production of Scapin, now extended through Sunday, January 10, 2010.

Adapted by Bill Irwin and Mark O'Donnell, this offbeat re-imagining of the Molière classic puts famous servant Scapin at the center of an inventive interaction between actors and puppets in a production stuffed with chase scenes, revenge plots, slapstick and spoofery, live music, and lots of theater magic for the entire family. Scapin is directed by Aaron Cromie, known as a performer, director, and puppeteer from projects such as The Foocy, The Comedy of Errors, Travels with My Aunt, and The Fantasticks.

The Philadelphia Inquirer hails Scapin as "irresistible." Philadelphia City Paper compliments Scapin's cast of actors and puppets, saying their "verbal and physical dexterity never ceases to amaze." Broad Street Review suggests skipping an expensive family trip to Broadway, and "instead get tickets to Scapin and roll in the aisles with laughter." Philly2Philly.com describes Scapin as "theater at its best."

Tickets are $20-$35 and are available online at www.lanterntheater.org or by phone at 215.829.0395. $10 student rush tickets are available ten minutes before curtain with valid ID; cash only. The Family Matinees Series offers family-friendly pricing of $10 and up for select performances through January 2. Scapin is perfect for families with children ages 8 and up.
