2022/23 Mainstage Season

THE ROYALE
Philadelphia Premiere
By Marco Ramirez
Directed and Choreographed by Zuhairah McGill

LIVE ON STAGE
Now through December 11, 2022

Set in the early 1900s, The Royale takes inspiration from the life of Jack Johnson, the first African American heavyweight world boxing champion. Ramirez's riveting drama is filled with the rhythms of the ring and of the people fighting for freedom, dignity, and success in a fascinating and important chapter in our national story.

Sensory Sensitivity Advisory
The Royale includes light haze and brief strobe lighting effects. Please contact us if this is of concern to anyone in your party.

This production will be performed at St. Stephen's Theater, which is conveniently located at 923 Ludlow Street in Center City Philadelphia. We regret that both the seating area and restrooms require navigating a flight of stairs and are therefore not accessible to patrons using a wheelchair; no elevator service is available. We are, however, able to accommodate patrons with early seating or other special needs; please let us know how we may assist you. Get directions & parking info»
