PHILLY'S JAZZ LEGACY: AROUND THE WORLD AND BACK AGAIN
Friday, June 20, 2025 5PM - 7PM
Lantern Theater Company is partnering with the Young Friends of Wyck and The Johnson House to celebrate Black Music Month with an evening of Jazz and Jazz-influenced performance from Philadelphia and around the globe. This program will take place outdoors on Wyck's beautiful historic grounds. Opening acts feature Stephanie Cole and Braylynn Nahja performing jazz standards from the Billie Holiday songbook accompanied by Luke McGinnis, Christa Aikins performing DÆGURLAG (Icelandic Jazz) standards, and violinist Juan Yanez performing Venezuelan music with Latin jazz rhythms. Our headliner for the evening is Germantown native and renowned poet Ursula Rucker performing her unique style of spoken word with some of her favorite local musicians. Bring a picnic, blanket, and/or camping chairs and experience Philadelphia's legacy as a music center that attracts international talent and influences artists around the world. In case of inclement weather, the rain date will be Wednesday, June 25, and we will notify all registered attendees if we need to move this program to the rain date. NORTHWEST PHILADELPHIA VENUE: Wyck Historic House & Garden 6026 Germantown Avenue Philadelphia, PA 19144
Your complimentary ticket includes a post-show discussion with the artists and community members
